"We enjoy our socials outside of training and organise as many as we can. It gives us the opportunity to build relationships and form strong friendships, which all start form SLV training. It’s amazing what laughing with like-minded people can do for your soul." - Clara

Seacroft Eagles roles and responsibilities - Mark & Hollie

"Myself Hollie joynson and Mark monks both started at our amazing club as parents I was very much involved from the start, I got involved by doing courses and a dbs and became admin to the club for a year. Mark monks then joined as a parent and did some courses and dbs to become an assistant coach to help the then manager out. Then quickly the club started failing we had two teams and the manager didn’t want to continue, so Mark decided to take the club on as he didn’t want to let the two teams down, I agreed to stay on and help run the club with Mark. Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength we now currently have nine teams within the club that myself and Mark run, this has been a massive journey for both of as we both work full time, but it’s been the most rewarding journey. Me and mark do this for the local children and parents we currently have 144 children signed up and we are just growing.
It’s amazing that we can offer this to so many children in the local Community giving them a safe place to be able to learn how to play football but also to socialise and meet different people in the community. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our very own volunteers they are amazing and give up their time for our club and we are forever grateful for this as well as our amazing sponsors that help ensure each player has a kit and training equipment."

"My time at Seacroft Eagles began when my eldest daughter decided she wanted to join a football team, and after emailing several clubs, the Seacroft Eagles were the only club to get back in touch.
After a few months of my eldest playing, my youngest daughter then decided to join the age group below. Shortly after Mark and Hollie asked me to coach a team as there were just so many teams as the growth of the club have been huge. As I have being to college and gained numerous other coaching qualifications, this was an opportunity I was eager to take on. Even in this volunteer role, it is so rewarding seeing the younger generation have fun and learn how to work as part of a team. As a parent seeing both my daughters enjoy this experience and make new friends is another reason, I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I’m looking forward to seeing the club continue to grow as it has. Mark and Hollie dedicate so much time and effort into the club. You can see how much the club means to them"

"My son wanted to play football with a team, within the Leeds leagues and I encouraged this as I wanted to expand his social circle. After witnessing a few training sessions with the head coaches, I realised that team bonding is an integral part of being a child. As a child who played school football, it brought back lots of memories and I decided I wanted to become involved and pass on my experience from a leadership perspective. Mark and Hollie have been incredibly supportive and ensured the correct education was passed to me to meet all of the required regulations, allowing me to start coaching an incredible set of young people.
They will continue to guide me, the parents and the team to grow as individuals and as a team enabling all involved to be better day upon day. In my opinion, they are a credit to the surrounding area and the club is a welcome haven for kids who want to experience football whilst being part of a caring community and developing key skills for their lives ahead."

"My life as a coach started when I couldn’t get my son in to a local club after being on a waiting list over a year, so took him along to a new team that was setting up. The volume of kids coming down took everyone by surprise so was obvious there was a problem of too many kids and not enough teams.
I didn’t want any other kids to be in the same position as my son, so decided to get involved to make sure as many kids who wanted to play football could do."

SMART Goals
SMART Goals can be a great tool to help focus, guide and create a solid goal.
Specific: Be clear and specific. What exactly do you want to achieve?
Measurable: Track your progress. How will you know you are improving?
Actionable: Be practical and take action. How will you work towards your goal?
Relevant: Make it personal. What value will you get from achieving this goal?
Timebound: Set a date. When do you hope to achieve your goal?
Example 1
Specific: "I want to improve my fitness at running."
Measurable: "I will track my progress by recording the minutes I run weekly."
Actionable: "Given my current fitness level, I will start by running 10 minutes twice times a week and gradually increase the time by 2 minutes each week”
Relevant: "Improving my fitness will help me feel healthier and I will have more energy to enjoy activities with my kids”
Time-bound: "I aim to increase my running duration to 30 minutes within 2-3 months”
Example 2
Specific: "I want to improve my confidence with people in the activity session"
Measurable: "I will track my progress by noting how comfortable I feel interacting with other people attending the sessions and reflect on good interactions I had”
Actionable: "I will start by attending activity sessions regularly, introducing myself to new people, initiating conversations and putting myself out of my comfort zone”
Relevant: "Improving my confidence with people in the activity session will not only improve my overall experience during sessions but also help me form new friendships outside of the sessions”
